In terms of organization, the Datteln power plant is part of the West 2 power station group, alongside the sites of Shamrock and Knepper. Approximately 100 employees work at the Datteln power plant. The safe operation of the power plant and the reliable functioning of the power plant’s units are guaranteed around the clock by five shift groups.

A further 110 employees in the west regional center in Gelsenkirchen take care of personnel, bookkeeping and controlling, as well as materials management. The regional center in the west maintains the Datteln power plant, the Knepper power plant in Dortmund, the Shamrock power plant in Herne as well as the Scholven in Gelsenkirchen.
The flue gas purification produces large quantities of gypsum and flue ash. Both are commercially marketed by our subsidiary company, BauMineral in Herten, and can be reused 100 percent by the construction industry.
